Model 425 VUV Channel Electron Multiplier
|
|
The Model 425 Channel Electron Multiplier is a bakeable, windowless, solar blind detector for operation in the 1 to 180-nm region. It is mounted to a special ceramic board and encased in a vacuum tight housing for vacuum operation. The Model 425 is ideal for measurements in the Extreme and Vacuum UV (EUV and VUV) where the solar blind feature eliminates background noise. It is especially suitable for photon counting applications. The CEM is also available with a variety of coatings (or uncoated) to enhance response in different energy regions.
The vacuum housing fits directly to the exit slit of your McPherson monochromator or alternately, can be installed directly inside some McPherson vacuum sample chambers. The detector assembly includes a pipe thread port (1/8" NPT) for use with vacuum gauges and/or supplemental pumping. Vacuum feed throughs for operation to 3,000 VDC and for signal output are provided.
The Model 7642 is a suitable 5-kV high voltage power supply for proper operation of this detector.
The CEM will be permanently damaged if operated at vacuum pressures exceeding 1 x 10^4 torr. Interlocking the vacuum gage system to the detectors HV supply is strongly recommended
