5 axis Mirror Manipulator

The McPherson 5 Axis Mirror Manipulator provides adjustment of Roll, Pitch, Yaw, X and Z-axes. All rotations are about the mirror apex to reduce cross talk between stages and repetitive adjustments. Accept ambient temperature or cooled optics. Available with manual or stepper motor actuated controls. Standard accuracies of Roll and Pitch are over the range of +/- 0.25-degree with 5-arcsec accuracy. To lock mirror into position, fine adjustment screws are provided with scales readable to +/-10-um. Standard Z-axis adjustability is over a range of +/-2-mm. Yaw is adjustable in atmosphere by loosening the rotatable CF flange. An optional PZT actuator is available for the Pitch adjustment. All metal sealed for operation at 10-10 torr vacuum.
Manipulators accept cooled or uncooled optics, and allow easy retrofitting The mirror attaches to the cradle mounted on the end of the feed through tube. Kinematic mounts allow easy removal and reinstallation of mirror/cradle assembly without realignment. The stem(feed through tube) readily accepts cooling lines and allows easy retrofitting for cooling mirrors. Stability of the mirror manipulator permits mounting in any orientation.
All mechanical parts/motions are located in the atmosphere for reliable operation and ease of maintenance. Mirrors and mirror cradles are easily removed and interchanged. Internal parts are constructed of 304 or 304L stainless steel; stainless steel bellows and standard CF flanges protect the vacuum. All components are chemically cleaned, baked to 250 degrees C, and pumped to the 0-10 torr range.
