The McPherson high heat load, UHV flexure slit is actively water cooled. This is a ruggedized version of our precision UHV flexure slit It is a clean design with no bearings and no sliding surfaces. Water cooling lines run directly through the slit blades. Optimum heat transfer is obtained with water lines located close to the knife edge. They move heat away fast, preventing deformation or excessive heating in the UHV. Easily calibrated widths and removable micrometers facilitate baking. Directly water cooled masks or occulters can be integrated. Electrically isolated slit jaws with wiring and a feed through for bias and current monitoring (for beam position, etc.) are available.
