McPherson introduces a multi mode, transmssion, fluorescence, Raman, microscopy spectrometer as another powerful tool for both research and education. It's basic setup exemplifies both the complexity and the fundamentals of spectroscopy. The system was designed with single beam, f/2 optics to provide optimal energy throughput. The unit is capable of many spectroscopic functions and its compact size (approximately 3 x 4 feet on an optical table) proves ideal for any laboratory setup.
The Most Sources of Any Unit The complete system is modular and easily manipulated by the user. Choose between five available sources: Deuterium, Xenon, Xenon-Mercury, Tungsten and ceramic emmitter. Light sources are manually selectable.
The Fastest McPherson Monochromator Ever Built The monochromator component of this system is the Model 272 200mm f/2 instrument. Bilaterally adjustable slit assemblies (vary frm 10microns to 4mm) allow variable bandpass and resolution for measurments. This monochromator was utilized for its throughput; however, the system could be configured including a variety of McPherson higher resolution monochromators like the 350mm 2035.
High Throughput Microscopy Illuminator The Model 272 is a versatile high throughput monochromatic illuminator for microscopy applications. A fiber holder with collection lens (quartz) and a filter slot to sample provide high throughput and efficient stray light reduction into the microscope. Quartz, glass and liquid light guides are available.

The Fastest and Most Versatile Chamber f/2 optics are employed in this unique sample chamber to direct the beam for
transmission, absorption or fluorescence measurements. There are two fluorescence ports positioned in a "T" formation to allow simultaneous measurement of perpendicular or parallel polarized light. Either PMT's or monochromators can be directly attached to each fluorescence port. The sample chamber supports numerous filter holders and polarizer positions. The complete unit including the monochromators and chamber has an optical table and rails. You can do Raman measurements and all elements can be gas purged enabling efficient work in the infrared. This unique sample chamber accepts various types of cells. Gas cells, 10 x 10mm cuvettes, flow cells and 25mm disks are the standards. We can adapt to accommodate other customer selected cells. These complex sample cells are capable of constant temperature (between 30°C and 100°C by water) and stirring. |

Limitless Detection Possibilities The emission monochromator, a Model 272, f/2 design, is just one element of detection accessible to this system. This monochromator is rail mounted to ensure precise realignment if it is disconnected to allow for a different method of detection. The sample chamber supports multiple ports for transmission/absorbance/fluorescence measurements by means of array detectors (CCD/PDA), enhanced photomultiplier tubes and solid state detectors (InGaAs, PbS, InSb). McPherson provides signal recovery for detector operation.
The complete system is integrated under one software package. LabView(TM) controls data acquisition and the instruments.
