During July temperature here on the East Coast USA is about 31 C. Normally with only seven days of rain, July is a hot dry time. This year is no exception, except it feels hotter, maybe because of the mask. Covid is still very much present and herd immunity slow to form [1,2]. Stay safe and healthy everyone!

Model 251mx NEW! Aberration-corrected flat-field diffraction grating for 50~200 nanometers now available! This 120 g/mm grating fits the popular 251MX spectrometer from McPherson. It helps span atmospheric to the Extreme-UV! This optical design is best for microchannel plate intensifiers or direct detection CCD array detectors. The aberration correction provides straight spectral lines for best spectral resolution. 2400, 1200, 300 and 120 g/mm available.

VUV deuterium lamp with vacuum flange Back at work? McPherson provides special capabilities as a service! We offer vacuum leak test, transmission/reflection measurements, light source comparison and more. Research and university labs are going through some changes. We offer deep-UV and metrology service, e.g. testing on our VUVAS systems. Visible and near infrared measurements are popular too. Give us a call!

On the 14th of July In 1991 386BSD is released by Lynne Jolitz and William Jolitz, starting the open source operating system revolution. Linus Torvalds releases "Linux" soon afterwards.

high resolution monochromator IR spectroscopy is important for chemical and mineralogical characterization, food safety and biologic analysis as well as measuring spectral signatures for night vision, combustion, and countermeasures. Compact infrared (IR) bolometer arrays are available for high resolution spectral imaging. For example, fifty distinct infrared bands may be measured simultaneously with McPherson 2061. Other infrared cameras with thermoelectric or cryogenic cooling may also be adapted.

silicon photodiode detector is Nitrided, has response from visible region to more than 1000eV Got short wavelengths? Check out our VUV silicon photodiode detector. This detector is available as a loose photodiode for use as you wish, or packaged in a housing that fits NW40 flanges. Signal starved? Two amplifiers are available, one is designed for outside, the other is safe for use in a vacuum. Absolute calibration in the 5~254 nanometer range is an available option.
