Fiber Optic Adapters
Fiber optics are convenient for moving light around the lab. We offer several types of adapters for fitting fibers to spectrometers. The adapters are intended to preserve the simplicity of working with fibers, while making best use of available light.
Direct Coupling SMA, FC or Ferrules
Model 131 fiber adapter fits to entrance or exit slits of McPherson monochromators. Fiber is proximity coupled to the slit. Alignment is possible via clearance in mounting holes, instrument aperture is overfilled. High integrity imaging of small fibers. Works with ferrule, FC, and SMA terminated fibers.
Lens Condenser Coupling SMA, FC or Ferrules
Model 132 fiber adapter fits to entrance or exit slits of McPherson monochromators. This assembly comes with a filter holder (one inch DIA x 0.25 inch thick) and a two-element UV grade fused silica lens system to focus fiber termination to slit. Also matches f/number. Fiber is adjustable to allow alignment to the instrument. Works with ferrule, SMA, FC/PC terminated single and/or fiber bundles.
Large 20mm Ferrule Adapter
Model 133 is a fiber adapter which can accommodate large 20mm DIA ferrules. The large ferrules have been used for fiber input arrays with up to 200 fibers. It is specially designed for high resolution optical diagnostics of high temperature plasmas (doppler, stokes techniques). The adapter fits to entrance or exit slits of McPherson monochromators via the Model 943 three position slit wheel.
Reflective, Imaging Fiber Coupler
Model 617FO Reflective Focusing accessory is useful for sources and fibers. It uses 2 reflective optics to focus a light source or fiber to the entrance slit. No refocusing and no chromatic aberration provide maximum spectral range. An aperture is provided to match f/nos. McPherson accessory light chopper and filter wheels fit inside this housing next to the slit. Works with ferrule, SMA, FC/PC terminated single and/or fiber bundles.
Speciality Fiber Assemblies
We can provide commercial and special fiber optics for your requirements. Single fibers, multiple fiber bundle, random or coherent bundle, liquid light guides, bifurcated bundles, circular to rectangular bundle for efficient energy gathering and transmission through a monochromator slit. Standard fiber optic glass for low cost, fused silica for UV transmission, water-free quartz for NIR. All manner of custom fiber assemblies! Let us know your desired spectral transmission range, core and bundle diameter and fiber length. We can provide coherent fiber manifolds that split and terminate images into smaller selected channels to multiplex spectral or spatial coverage.
